the reason frank sings ‘trust me’ when they play not okay live is likely because it’d be awkward for a single vocalist to fit the call and response of ‘i mean this, i’m okay’ and ‘trust me’ into one phrase, but there’s something notable about frank specifically being tasked with reassuring the audience (in the song about begging to be heard and understood) that the narrator of the song is okay. take it from him. he’s okay trust him. frank iero the eternal liaison between the untouchable idea of a band that changes lives and the audience it transfigures by having a foot in both worlds. trust me, it happened to me. i’m okay now.
I’m always proud to call My Chemical Romance my favorite band but after this level of campy horror on stage to deliberately manipulate their own image away from the clutches of the nostalgia profit wave I have to tattoo MCR on my heart
